EFT tapping with Ping

A holistic approach to emotional wellness

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), often referred to as “tapping,” is a powerful therapeutic modality rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and modern psychology. Developed by Gary Craig in the 1990s, EFT integrates aspects of acupuncture (specifically, the meridian points) and psychology to address emotional distress and physical discomfort. At its core, EFT recognises that unresolved emotional issues contribute to both physical and psychological discomfort. By tapping on meridian points, individuals can release negative emotional content from past events, address current somatic distress, eliminate limiting thoughts and beliefs, and alleviate anxiety regarding future events – all of which promotes a profound sense of freedom.

EFT and neighbouring approaches

EFT shares commonalities with numerous therapeutic approaches. EMDR, for instance, is sometimes affectionately referred to as ‘EFT with a plug’. Somatic Experiencing delves into the physiological aspects of trauma, promoting resilience and restoring a sense of safety in the body, thereby focusing on trauma resolution and the mind-body connection, much like EFT.

EFT and the scientific paradigm

Scientific research increasingly supports the efficacy of EFT in addressing emotional and psychological issues. Studies suggest that EFT may help reduce anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), among other conditions. Research has also explored the impact of EFT on physiological markers, showcasing its potential to modulate stress responses and promote emotional well-being.

EFT and simplicity

The effectiveness of EFT lies not only in its tangible outcomes but also in its accessibility. Its non-invasive nature and applicability to diverse issues make it a valuable complement to traditional therapeutic approaches.
